Deadline for signatures: October 4, 2018
Radio Amateurs in Quebec have told us of a petition involving a radio station that is “generating interference on purpose”.
While we have not had a chance to investigate the specific details of the incidents the petition refers to we agree with the importance of acting to support the security of high frequency communications.
Those interested in signing the petition can do so at the following website:

MARTIN, Aileen Evelyn (Krause)
Feb. 9, 1922-Jan. 6, 2017
Aileen Martin, dearly loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Grey Nuns Hospital, Edmonton at the age of 94
Most recently a resident of Laurier House, Sherwood Park, Aileen was born in Innisfail, Alberta, the second of eleven children of William and Ella (Hawkins) Krause. She grew up on the family farm near Bowden, attending Nisbet and Horseshoe Lake schools and Innisfail High School.
In 1941 she married Kenneth Lorne (Ken) Martin who was then serving in the RCAF. After Ken’s discharge, the family settled in Red Deer where they lived until 1962 when they bought the farm on Highway 42 east of Penhold where they raised their four sons. After Ken’s death in 2006, Aileen remained in her cherished farm home until 2014.
Her husband and family were the center of Aileen’s world. Her abundant and beautifully cooked meals were legendary among the family. Homemade goodies and coffee were always ready for friends and neighbours who dropped by. Her vast collection of dolls delighted her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid gardener, she filled her home with plants and flowers.
Treasuring Aileen’s memory are her two sons, Brian (Evelyn) and Owen (Teresa) of Sherwood Park, daughter-in-law Donna of Edmonton, 11 grandchildren, Nathaniel Martin (Marieke), Leah Martin-Visscher (Darcy Visscher), Bronwyn Martin (Leopold Kowolik), Terri Martin, Christine O’Shea (Ryan), Kenny Martin, Margaret Glidden (Roy), James Martin (Sarah), Philip Martin (Ann), Elizabeth Martin (Ian March) and Andrew Martin (Hayley), 12 great-grandchildren, one sister Beatrice Anderson, one sister-in-law Holly Martin, four special nieces, Kay (Mann) Mason, Carrol Atkinson, Gloria Atkinson-Dent and Rhonda Charles, and many other nieces, nephews and long-time friends. She was predeceased by husband Ken, sons Dwight in 1974 and Gregory in 1992, and grandson Nigel in 2007, her father Bill (1960), mother Ella (1988), 5 sisters, Ruth Beer, Dorothy Krause, Marjorie Atkinson, Myrtle Stone and Dolleen Faessler, and four brothers, Alvin, George, Arthur and Albert Krause.
A celebration of Aileen’s life will be held on May 20, 2017 at The King’s University Student Activity Centre (9125 -50th Street, Edmonton) from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Genetic Aortic Disorders Association (formerly Canadian Marfan Association) Centre Plaza Postal Outlet 128 Queen St. South P.O.
