I wanted to send an invite to all our local ARES members and clubs to let them know that ARES Edmonton, supported by NARC, will be attending SARVAC 2019 (September 13th to 15th) in Rocky Mountain House.
NARC president Mitch Mitchell will be doing a talk on ARES and how it
relates to SAR. And, to make it real, we will be bringing the NARC pac III
trailer down to demonstrate radio communications.

As ARES and amateur radio, and not a particular club, are the focus of our
involvement, I would like to invite any/all of you to come to SARVAC under
the ARES banner to help raise awareness of what we can offer to front line
serving agencies in the SAR arena. If you want to attend the conference
itself, or find out more you can go to https://sarvac.ca/sar-c2c-2019/. If
you just want to come hang out at the NARC pac trailer, admission is free and it would be a great opportunity to get to know each other. I believe you can also just sign up to attend an evening social if you do not want to go to
the full conference.

If you would like to bring your own equipment for demonstration or to set
something up for your club I think there is sufficient room and the more the better. Other clubs are welcome to display their logos and “stuff’ along
with NARC, or we can put you in touch with the event coordinator to make
arrangements for a bigger presence.

This is an exciting opportunity for both ARES and amateur radio, and I look
forward to seeing many of you at the event.

If you know anyone that may be interested, please forward this information to them.
